FiveRuns gets $6.2M, names new CEO – Austin Business Journal:
I met a few of these guys during SXSW last year. That space is very compelling. Ruby on Rails is a framework that lets you develop software easily, but production support and monitoring? Not so much. A huge pain point here.

Microsoft beats Google to Facebook stake
Taking some money off the table, smart. As for the contenders — way to go dummies, you just for validating the $15b some bozo pulled out of thin air.

First commuter rail cars arrive
OK, kind of a non-event. But still, good P.R. for CapMetro. Here I am imagining the possibilities of a commute downtown (or UT) with just a train and a bike.

City to pay $6.9M for Home Depot site – Austin Business Journal
Always nice to see a big box get a second lease on life. In other news, the original Municipal Court (7th Street between Red River and I-35) is sitting on a GOLDMINE. Palm admits new OS 18 months away | The Register
Palm is SCREWED. They are stuck in a time warp, trying to develop backwards compatibility…for what? Solitaire and 5-year-old wine guides? The best thing they could do for their developer base is to put a bullet in PalmOS.
