My one takeaway from b-school

Some of my colleagues at McCombs are starting to interview for positions. That really got me thinking about the type of questions one might expect to hear. One made-up question in particular stood out for me:

What would be your one takeaway from business school?

This is the type of questions that sums up your $80,000 investment. If you can’t answer this one within 3 seconds, there’s a problem.

After thinking about it a bit, I realized my answer.

Opportunity cost.

B-school has definitely taught me this concept. Understanding what my time is worth and what I could potentially be doing with it. In the career, in the market, etc. That critical analysis separates the hobbyists from the entrepreneurs, and the talkers from the doers. The doers doesn’t talk much because they’re too damn busy solving problems and getting paid for it.

So, consider me prepared if the time comes when I get fed this softball.
